Leon furrowed his brows.
Teresa felt a pang of regret for her comment about his friend. Taking a slice of apple, she mused, "Well, it's not entirely unfounded."
Leon lowered his head, continuing to peel the apple. Casually, he asked, "Ms. Lloyd, what do you think constitutes fate?"
Teresa paused, then shook her head with uncertainty. "I'm not really sure."
There was a time when Eric had entered her life during its darkest hour, bringing her solace.
Back then, she believed it was destiny between them.
Now, though, she saw things differently.
She hadn't even sorted out her own life; how could she presume to judge others?
Leon glanced up, his gaze thoughtful. "Meeting again after all these years, does that count as fate?"
Teresa nodded slowly. "I guess it does?"
A faint smile touched Leon's lips as he passed her another slice of apple. "Then it must be fate."
Teresa was momentarily stunned.
His words seemed directed at her, yet…
"Mr. Bolton, have we met before?" Teresa asked
