I pried his hand open and patted his cheek firmly. "Javin, if you're worried I might have something on you, you'd better behave. Otherwise, I can't promise I won't let something slip by accident."
By now, arguing further with Javin seemed pointless. I finished speaking and quickly walked away.
As soon as I got home, Sharon called. I answered immediately.
Her voice was tense. "Kaelan, you're off work now, right? Didn't you say you wanted to meet me alone to talk about Wesley? I'm waiting for you at the café."
"Yeah, I'll be there in ten minutes," I replied calmly.
After hanging up, I glanced at the DNA test results on the table. I was eager to see Sharon's reaction when she learned Javin was actually Wesley.
I grabbed my keys and headed straight to the café.
Just as I turned into an alley, a group of thugs closed in on me.
