Chapter 16
"Ruby, focus!" Cassandra grabbed Ruby fiercely. Her beautiful face became distorted with jealousy, "Did something happen between them?"
"Something should've happened," Ruby nodded. "It was written all over his face. When he left the room his eyes looked tired, but he was smiling. The man was satisfied with something, and I'm sure it's because of her."
Ruby, has slept with countless men before, she was confident in her assumptions.
Cassandra believed it to be true, she suddenly clenched her fists, and a chill of hatred burst into her eyes.
She has always believed that egotistical men like Peter couldn't tolerate any falsehood and disrespect. She had made Samantha do both, but he didn't beat her to death and slept with her instead? What's with Samantha? How was she able to charm Peter?
She has spent four years trying to seduce Peter, she repelled every other woman who gets close to him, but he still wouldn't touch her. He had been with Samantha for only one night and somehow he fell for her despite the scandalous acts she made her do. Cassandra was almost crying blood, she couldn't believe it for even a second.
Cassandra raised her head and asked Ruby who standing by, "Ruby, what should we do? If this continues, Samantha will replace me and you will lose your job."
"Madam, you have authority in this household. Can't you just send her away?"
"We are acting as pure, kind-hearted people. We can't do that, you idiot." Cassandra stared at Ruby in disappointment.
"We can torture her, while she is weak we can..." Ruby was whispering into Cassandra's ear for a long time.
"That's more like it. Ruby, you're a genius." Cassandra was heartbroken, but her evil smile gradually returned to her lips. After a long while, she rolled her eyes like a concubine, "I won't let you replace me, Samantha."
The dining room was as quiet as always. The extravagant food was on the long table, and the old housekeeper Charles stood by and waited professionally.
Peter sat on the main seat, he was reading a financial newspaper.
Although he didn't sleep at all, he didn't show weakness in the slightest. His posture showed that he was a dignified man.
"Good morning, Peter!"
Cassandra walked into the room in a dress, Ruby, who was following behind, also bowed and greeted him, "Good morning master."
"Ms. Yan, please have some breakfast." The butler took the newspaper from his master's hand and he helped Cassandra move the chair.
Cassandra was annoyed with the housekeeper, she considers herself married to Peter, and he should be calling her Mrs. Yan. Cassandra suppressed the frustration in her heart and she gave Charles a pure and sweet smile. She then looked at Peter, she had a deep admiration in his eyes.
"Did you sleep well last night?"
"I did." Peter answered with no expression on his face, he ate the food gracefully, and occasionally took a sip from the cup.
"Oh, right, I forgot about my sister," Cassandra laughed at herself and looked at Ruby. "Go and invite my sister down for breakfast."
"Madam, isn't the little catfish injured? Can she get out bed yet?" Ruby kindly asked.
With a cup in hand, Peter looked over coldly and asked, "Little catfish?"
"Oh, that's my sister's nickname," Cassandra explained with a smile. "I've called her catfish since she was a child. I think it's cute."
It wasn't just cute, it was also appropriate. The woman's body was softer than a catfish, it was as if she had no bones.
Peter continued to drink. The memory of last night flashed in his mind when he heard the word catfish, and there was a mysterious sweetness in his heart.
In a moment, his eyes became cold again. Did Jonathan ever get a taste of her body? Thinking about it annoyed him.
"I will take some food up to her." Cassandra loaded a plate with delicious food. Cassandra smiled sweetly at Peter, and before she left she said, "Peter, you need to meet with my parents for the first day of your wedding. Are you going to take me or my—"
"You." Peter didn't want to hear any nonsense, and he interrupted her concisely.
The housekeeper also nodded in agreement. Although the young master never went out with Cassandra, his family still knew Cassandra. He couldn't just marry another woman so suddenly.
Cassandra was pleasantly surprised and she felt ecstatic. She is Peter's wife, not Samantha.
"I'll take this to Samantha, you don't need to wait for me, okay?"
Peter gave a faint hum in agreement, he got up and walked out of the dining room. He looked at Samantha's room from the hallway for a few seconds, his eyebrows furrowed. He had thought of something but he decided to ignore it. He walked over to his study on the opposite side.
Cassandra raised her nose, winked at Ruby, and then walked into Samantha's room with her meal.
Samantha was in a daze, she had the feeling that someone was staring at her and she didn't want to open her eyes.
Her fever was gone, but she was still in pain.
Cassandra and his husband were too cruel, getting soaked in ice-cold water, almost getting eaten alive by a crocodile, and the cold snowflakes falling onto her skin. She wanted to make them pay.
Why was it so difficult? She just wanted to live a peaceful life with her child. Samantha was sad thinking about her child, she thought that Daniel was worried sick. She hoped that Jonathan was able to comfort him.
He was too young to lose her mother. She couldn't die no matter what, she had to be there for him.
"Daniel…"
"You should've died."
Cassandra put the tray on the bedside table, she was staring at Samantha with a sinister smile as she picked up the fork and brought it to her eye.
