Chapter 14

Cassandra almost went mad with jealousy, her nose was crooked, her face became distorted, and she clenched her fist so hard it started to bleed. This was completely unacceptable. Cassandra saved his life. She has worked for four years to get everything she ever wanted, and she wouldn't let it go to waste. "Peter, please let go of the suspect." Jonathan blocked their way, he took out his badge and presented it. He then said professionally, "Samantha, you are under arrest." His slender finger flicked across Samantha's face teasingly, and Peter said tolerantly, "It's not a big mistake to want to marry me, it's all right. It's embarrassing to back out of your own words, and I'm willing to save a woman some face." Samantha was disgusted hearing these words, she could only give a cough in response. Peter smiled heartily. He had plans for Samantha, and he wouldn't let her go. Jonathan's expression turned hostile when he heard his words, the hand that was holding his gun tightened up, he was seriously thinking about shooting Peter straight in the head. Peter saw the hate in his eyes, but he didn't care. He passed by him while holding Samantha, he completely ignored his hostility. Jonathan's hand tightened up once again. Samantha was getting farther and farther away from him. In his ten years as a police officer, he has solved many important cases, but he has never encountered someone like Peter before. "Jonathan, leave me alone." Samantha saw Jonathan's situation and she shook her head weakly at him. She was worried about her son, tears were running down her face and she mouthed her son's name "Daniel." Peter bowed his head and blocked her mouth, not giving her a chance to speak. Samantha felt extremely humiliated and she tried to bite him hard. Peter avoided it skillfully. He matched her rhythm, and it created the illusion that they were sharing an intense kiss until Samantha fainted from exhaustion. "Peter! I've had enough!" Jonathan couldn't bear it anymore. He threw his fist towards Peter's head, there would be severe consequences but Jonathan didn't care anymore. Peter avoided his punch, "Jonathan, you're not soaking wet, so you can't feel the cold right now. This woman is almost frozen, she needs to be warmed up and treated immediately. If you take her in right now she will be a corpse when she arrives at the station." Jonathan was taken aback, he lowered his fists, and he said, "Fine, I'll come back to take her in once she's cured." "When your strength matches your ambition, negotiate with me. Take care." Peter's tone was faint, but his words lacked any emotion. Jonathan didn't understand his words at first. His subordinate handed over a phone, "Jonathan, it's the chief." "Jonathan, you idiot!" As soon as the call was connected, the old man's roar came over, it was almost deafening, "Get back to the station!" Jonathan's heart sank, and he instantly understood what Peter meant by "take care", he then said in a low voice, "Chief, I'm working on a case. I can't go back now." "Jonathan, are you defying my orders? I'm giving you ten minutes to withdraw your team. If you're not gone by then, you're all getting suspended!" The chief then hung up the call, leaving no room for discussion. The director was furious because he had just received a photo of Jonathan beating Lian violently. Peter is an important man from a very powerful family, but his secretary isn't a nobody. The Ou family is a well-known family of lawyers with ties to many powerful families, and Lian is a noble son. Now that he is injured, the police must give the Ou family a reasonable statement and apologize to them. "We're done here." Jonathan didn't want to encumber his subordinates and he had suffered a terrible defeat. As he returned to the station, he was severely criticized by the chief. He was then imprisoned for the time being, he was demoted and he received a cut to his salary. Jonathan had lost his freedom and his talk about saving Samantha became an empty promise and a lifelong regret. At two o'clock in the morning, in the Xiao Mansion... The smell of coffee permeated within the study. Peter was sitting behind a large desk working with documents, without a trace of sleepiness on his stern face. "President Xiao." Lian knocked on the door, he then entered and informed Peter, "Samantha is making a mess. She has a fever of forty degrees and she is talking nonsense. She doesn't want to stay still and she keeps removing the infusion tubes. We can't treat her right now." "Tranquilize her." Peter didn't look up, he turned to the last page of the document, and signed. "We already did. The doctor can't increase the dose, she is too weak. If we increase the dose she might die." Lian said truthfully. Peter took out a pair of handcuffs from a drawer and he threw them at Lian's feet. "Use those. If you don't want to, you can go back to your family and be a lawyer." Lian picked up the handcuffs, he then told Peter more, "Her arm has fractured bones from a past injury, the cold water made the injury worse. It hurts her when it gets touched. Are you sure you want to handcuff her?" "So many problems," Peter said as he raised his head. He glared at Lian with dissatisfaction, he then got up quickly, and strode out. "Please have pity on her, she's had enough for one night." "Pity yourself first." He looked at his twisted wrist, Lian felt sorry for himself, he then sorted out the files on the desktop and turned off the lights. "Jonathan, Daniel…" Samantha's speech was sluggish. She was moving her arm as if she was swimming. The room was a mess. Her blanket wasn't even over her, the infusion tubes were leaking various fluids on the ground, needles were bent as she resisted a few times.
