Chapter 8

After Meghan locked herself in the room for three days, she finally had a prototype in her mind. Just as she was about to draw a stroke, she received a call from an unknown number. She put down the pen, and answered the call politely, "Hello, who is this?" "Madam, this is Nash. I am Mr. Zhou's assistant. Mr. Zhou is going on a business trip to Maldives tomorrow. I just called to ask if you remember where you put his blue and white striped shirt." Meghan was particularly annoyed to be interrupted when she was finally in the zone, and it was over such a trivial matter, which made her suspect that Samuel was deliberately playing with her. She instantly snapped and said, "Is he out of his mind? We're already divorced. How the hell would I know where his shirt is? Go ask the maid!" After speaking, she hung up the phone without hesitation. Two minutes later, Meghan's cell phone rang again, and the name "Samuel Zhou" lit up on the screen. She was silent for a moment, but she still answered. "Meghan, be here in half an hour, and don't you dare be late." "I—" This time, Samuel hung up without waiting for her answer. Meghan clutched the phone, wishing to beat that jerk violently. She took a deep breath and calmed down before getting up and leaving the room. Seeing this, Sara couldn't help but ask her, "Honey, where are you going so late?" "To kill that asshole!" Sara was stunned and speechless. Of course, Meghan was just saying empty words. How could she even dare be Samuel's opponent? At the Xinghu Mansion, the servants had already rested, and the surroundings were surprisingly quiet. Meghan went to the second floor at night, pushed open the bedroom door, and saw Samuel sitting on the sofa, dressed at home and was looking through the documents in front of him with his slender fingers. Even if he heard the movement, he didn't look up at her. Meghan walked straight to the cloakroom and found the blue and white striped shirt his assistant was looking for earlier. The moment she saw the clothes, she was stunned. This was the year she got married, and she knew Samuel was going to Hawaii for a business trip, so she bought it for him. This shirt was very suitable for going to the beach. When she gave Samuel the clothes at the time, he just looked at her coldly, and said, "Stop trying to please me in such a cheap way, and cut out this scheming that I could see through at a glance." Meghan didn't know why she even bothered, so she never bought anything for Samuel since then. He abandoned her like she was some old pair of shoes, but now he specifically asked her to come back. It wasn't for revenge, he was just making fun of her, but for what? In silence, Meghan picked up the shirt and left the cloakroom, put it on the bed. She was just about to speak, but found Samuel talking on the phone. His voice was very low, almost like a whisper, it was like he deliberately didn't want her to hear anything. Meghan originally wanted to mention the divorce with him, but seeing that she couldn't seem to find the right time, she turned around and left. When she walked out of the bedroom, Samuel finally raised his head and looked at her retreating back. He probably did not expect that she would leave like this. After pursing his thin lips, he whispered to the other end of the phone, "I'm hanging up first. I have to go." As soon as Meghan walked to the living room downstairs, she was stopped. Samuel stood on the stairs, looking at her condescendingly, his expression was as cold as ever. "Have you found the clothes?" "I put it on your bed." "What about the others?" Meghan didn't understand what he meant. "What others?" Samuel frowned. "I'm going on a business trip for a week. Do you think that's the only shirt I will wear?" She used to live here, and whenever he went on a business trip, it was Meghan who packed his luggage. She worked hard as Mrs. Zhou for three years, yet she didn't get any good results. Instead, she just tolerated and provided for his bad habits. Meghan said calmly, "Mr. Zhou, I have to remind you again that we are already divorced, so it's not my responsibility anymore to look for your shirts and pack your luggage. Please trouble the maid, or your next wife. Don't call me anymore. Thank you." Samuel's expression remained unchanged. He went downstairs and stopped in front of her. "Then, let me also remind you that we haven't gone through the divorce procedures yet and you are still my legal wife. Only you can do this." "There's no getting out of this, is there?" "Don't make me repeat myself." Meghan pursed the corners of her mouth and took out her phone to search for a number. "Okay, since you like to instruct others so much, then I will ask Maggie to pack your luggage. I'm sure she'd run over in a heartbeat." She had just found her number, but before she had time to press it, the phone was taken away. Samuel looked at her with a cold face. "Meghan, I've been too indulging to you recently, haven't I?" Meghan looked at her empty hand, and then after a while, she let out a chuckle. "Mr. Zhou's words are so cautious. I don't deserve such treatment." The coldness in Samuel's eyes deepened a bit. "When will you stop playing this hard-to-get game of yours? Meghan, don't test my patience, just say what you want."
