Chapter 10
"I know, I didn't give it to him."
When Meghan paid for his one million debt, he told her that if he ever gambled again in the future, then it won't be her business whether he lived or died, and that he shouldn't come to her anymore.
But Jun was able to adapt easily. Over the years, he has changed his ways in asking her for money. Sometimes it was for a broken leg surgery, or that Carlo got into a fight with others, his ways were always changing.
He knew that even if Meghan didn't care about him, she would never stop caring for her brother.
In the beginning, Meghan and Carlo were both deceived by him twice, but when they realized it, they caught on to his tricks and became indifferent.
Meghan asked him, "Do you want to apply to any university?"
"I'll think about it."
Meghan spoke softly, "Carlo, do you want to go abroad? I still have some money here. It should be no problem to send you abroad. Plus, you can still get a scholarship..."
She wanted to send Carlo far away from Jun so that he wouldn't be trapped in this swamp like her.
Carlo interrupted her, "No, I want to be here. I won't go anywhere."
Knowing his temper, Meghan just sighed inwardly to herself. "All right, you make your own decision. If you need money, just tell me."
"You should keep and use your own money for yourself, and I will use what I can earn." Carlo paused for a while, then asked her, "Has he been good to you lately?"
With the sudden mention of Samuel, Meghan was a little dumbfounded. She smiled before speaking, "Well, that's good. Carlo, I'm going to divorce him."
Carlo was silent for a second or two. It seemed that he was not surprised to hear this from her mouth. He said, "If you leave, I will support you in the future."
Meghan laughed. "I have my own hands and feet, why should you support me? Just go and study well."
After hanging up the phone, Meghan went out of the bedroom and saw Sara nestled in the sofa. Her whole body was curled up and her face was a little pale.
"Sara, what's the matter with you? Are you all right?" Meghan asked softly.
Sara shook her head, her voice was lacking strength as she spoke, "I'm fine."
Meghan poured her a cup of hot water. "You can't do that. I'll go out to buy you some brown sugar ginger tea water and some fever patches. Are you craving for something to eat?"
Hearing that, Sara regained her vitality, and after passionately saying the food she wanted to eat, she fell on the sofa again. "Meghan, you are the best. That jerk is really blind for not loving you."
Meghan smiled as she stood up, and said, "Just watch your TV."
When she got downstairs, Meghan went to the pharmacy and then walked to the nearby supermarket.
After buying the things Sara wanted one by one, she looked at the rows of sanitary napkins in front of her, and suddenly remembered that she hadn't been here for almost two months.
Since her miscarriage three years ago, her menstrual period has been irregular, often only two to three months.
Just in case, Meghan took a few more packages.
After paying the bill and was about to leave, a woman walked in at the door, slammed her on her shoulder, slammed her shopping bag on the ground, and brushed off her own clothes.
Meghan raised her head and looked at her with a little coldness in her eyes. "Don't you know how to walk properly?"
Anne Zhou glanced at her, her domineering expression was a little disdainful. "Oh, it's you. What are you doing here at this late hour? Are you secretly meeting another man behind my cousin's back?"
Meghan didn't bother to pay attention to her, bent down and lifted the shopping bag that fell on the ground, and said lightly, "Anne, since you already went abroad, you shouldn't have come back here. You should know that I'm not only crazy, but I'm also out for revenge."
Hearing this, Anne's face changed slightly, and she couldn't help but step back upon hearing her words. "What are you planning to do?"
Meghan raised her eyebrows. "It's nothing, but you best pray not to have any children in your life, or you may need to constantly keep a watchful eye on me. Whenever I want to settle accounts with you, I will surely approach you without hesitation."
With that, Meghan glanced at her as if nothing had happened.
Although Anne was still years away from being pregnant, she still got frightened by the look in her eyes. "You are crazy. How would you even know if I'm pregnant?
"Besides, if you dare touch me, the Zhou family will never let you go! My cousin will definitely divorce you and drive you out of the Zhou family, and you won't get anything!"
"Then I'll try. I've got nothing to lose, anyway."
"You're crazy!"
After another curse, Anne turned around and walked away, showing guilty conscience and tension on her retreating back.
After leaving the supermarket, Anne pulled the Land Rover parked on the side of the street, her face was twisted and pissed off.
The man next to her said lightly, "I thought you were going to buy water?"
Anne seemed to be waiting for him to speak, and complained, "Henry, do you remember that woman I told you before who faked her pregnancy to force my cousin into marriage? I feel so disgusted, I can't believe I actually met her here."
Henry just said, "Are you just leaving without buying water?"
"Henry, you..."
Halfway through Anne's words, she realized that Henry's eyes stopped somewhere outside the car. She took the opportunity to follow where his gaze was at but saw nothing. When she was about to ask him what's wrong, Henry suddenly opened the car door and ran out.
