Chapter 37
Hans quickly found the little girl. Her eyes shone brightly like other children who often wore blank, dazed expressions. In this world of ruins, she seemed like a ray of hope.
"What's your name?" he asked.
The little girl shook her head, not knowing her name.
"A lady named Lucy asked me to give this to you."
He placed a small box next to her. It wasn't large for him, but it was still pretty big for a four-year-old girl.
She looked at the box on the ground, unsure what was inside.
He gently spoke as he noticed her fragile state. "I'll open it for you."
He opened the box, revealing a cute plush doll, followed by new, clean clothes and a pair of shoes. The box was filled with small snacks that children could eat—everything packed neatly inside.
"Wow." The little girl immediately fell in love with the plush doll.
Every little girl loved dolls. She reached out to hug it, but her hands were dirty, and her nails were caked with grime.
