Chapter 30

"Hans?" Lucy called. Before the apocalypse, Hans had been a special forces soldier. After the zombie outbreak, he lived under constant stress for a year. Even in his sleep, the slightest sound could wake him up. "Mm?" he replied. "I've collected a lot of sweet potatoes and potatoes, but I can't take that much at once." He quickly understood what she meant. "Wait a moment. I'll find a place now." They were still in the underground shelter and needed a spacious room. Leo, Jesse, and Logan also woke up in the middle of the night. The three of them weren't annoyed by the disruption but rather excited. "Alright." Lucy heard Hans' voice and knew they were ready, so she began moving the vegetables from the warehouse. One person sent, and the other received; they were in perfect sync. Before long, the warehouse was completely emptied of its stock. Over on their side, the sacks were piled neatly, forming a mountain of fresh produce. Looking at the now-empty warehouse, Lucy said,
