Chapter 3
"Zoey, I’m just trying to help you! What are you talking about?” Xyrille's chest heaved violently and looked at Jerome with tears. "Jerome, you know that I have been sincere to Buddha for many years, and even ants were reluctant to trample on me!” Turning back to her friend, “Zoey, you and I grew up together. I just wanted to protect you. How could you accuse me of this?"
The Fu and An families have always been friendly with each other. Xyrille has been weak and kind since she was a child. She even donates blood and is active in charities.
"Don't worry,” Jerome thought. “I won't let my cheating, whoring wife accuse you." Suddenly, he walked towards the man and towered over him. "What's the most sensitive part of her body? How many birthmarks does she have? Say it! Say it and I'll give you a million!"
The man curled up, spit out a mouthful of blood, but also stammered out the answer.
"The most sensitive part of her body is her earlobe. There are two birthmarks on her body, one on her chest and the other on the back of her thigh."
Zoey's face suddenly turned white and her brain was blank.
"Take off your shirt."
"No, don't..." Zoey shook her head.
Jerome's eyes were fiery as he grabbed Zoey's arm. With one hand, he tore off the t-shirt she was wearing. Her snow-white skin was covered with red marks, all left by Jerome last night.
The most conspicuous was a bruised finger mark on the full chest. But under the finger mark was a birthmark. A birthmark he didn't even know about!
Jerome looked at Zoey fiercely. "Mrs. Fu, was that what you said? You didn't know him?"
The buzzing sound in Zoey's ear began to get louder and louder.
Jerome summoned a maid to bring in the divorce agreement. As soon as he had it in his hand, he promptly smashed it on Zoey's face. "Sign the divorce and get out of here."
The papers fluttered down from her forehead.
The big black words, the divorce agreement, hurt her eyes.
"No, I don't want a divorce!” She screamed in panic. “Jerome, listen to me! It's Xyrille who told the adulterer about my body!" She tore the divorce agreement to pieces.
Jerome’s eyes flashed but Xyrille gently spoke to her friend.
"Zoey, haven’t I been good to you? Now you not only have betrayed Jerome, but you’ve also slandered me! How can you accuse me of going behind your back and framing you?" Xyrille seemed to be out of breath, and her eyelids fluttered.
As she fainted, Jerome quickly came to her aid. He ordered the housekeeper to call the family doctor.
The housekeeper cast a suspicious look at the man lying on the ground. "Young master, what about this man..."
"Throw him out! Throw her out, too."
At the entrance of the villa, Jerome shut the door in Zoey’s face. She was wearing nothing but a torn shirt and a thin pair of shorts. The wind blew, as if warning her to take shelter.
She had always suspected that one day he would divorce her, but she couldn't accept that their marriage would end this way. She’d been framed. How could she just accept it and move on?
The sky lit up, and thunder rumbled in the distance.
She banged on the door, her sobs caught in her throat. "Jerome, I didn't cheat, that man was lying! I don’t know him, please open the door..."
Soon, the rain was beating on her. She began to shiver with cold.
“I beg you, open the door..."
Seemingly in response, the thunder boomed even more loudly. Lightning crackled, and the rain poured.
By the time it stopped raining, she was wet all over. In the morning, her limbs were frozen stiff, but still the door still wouldn't open.
"Why can't you believe me just this once?" She whispered.
