I ended up getting a good night's sleep.
Wynnie was still in the house when I woke up in the morning.
While I helped her arrange the clothes she was going to wear that day, she suddenly grabbed my arm and said coquettishly, "Sebastian, whenever you're not home, it's so tiring for me to deal with little things like that."
I stopped in my tracks and felt a bitter feeling start to rise up in my chest.
I used to help her do all of her chores and cook her meals back then, too.
She used to stare at me in disgust. She thought it was embarrassing and gross for a man without his own career to spend his days doing her bidding.
Now, however, she thought of those chores as another headache in her life that she needed my help to deal with.
I came back to my senses and forced out a smile. "It's okay. I'll help you do all these chores, so you just have to focus on your work."
She leaned in closer to me and murmured in my ear, "You're here next to me, but where does your heart actually belong?
