Chapter 16
I used a cloth to wipe the gravestone clean. After that, I placed the bunch of lilies I had prepared in advance before the grave.
I was too young back then, so I couldn't remember what my mother's favorite flowers were. All I could vaguely remember was that my mother used to talk about lilies.
Ryan waited for me under a tree some distance away.
My body was far too weak. I couldn't sit or stand for too long.
Left without a choice, I could only plop onto the spot before the grave. As I leaned against my mother's grave, I began rambling on and on about many things.
By the time I got ready to leave, it was getting quite late.
Ryan and I were in the midst of discussing what to have for dinner when someone suddenly dashed across the car. We were already back in the city, so there were a lot of cars cruising down the roads.
Thanks to that person's antics, Ryan applied the emergency brakes, causing the car behind us to lurch to a halt as well.
