Chapter 3 The Love and Hate That Were Hidden Deep Within
Xu Yi went back to her own room. She could still hear Xu Changrong’s screams of anger and Zhao Yamei’s sarcastic voice from downstairs.
Those cheap and bitter words were like thorns piercing Xu Yi’s heart.
The clean and fresh smell of Xu Yi’s shower cream lingered in the air. The soft smell of jasmine was just like her gentle and calm temperament.
An Xin was feisty and petty. Those personalities had no relations with her name.
Xu Yi was gentle and docile. She was generous with everyone, that was why she was always bullied.
Now, Xu Yi was dead. The Xu Yi that was alive was not the real Xu Yi. An Xin was living in Xu Yi’s body now, she would help her live her life to the fullest.
From the moment she woke up in the hospital, she decided that she would not allow anyone to bully her anymore.
Those people who had bullied her, shamed her, betrayed her, and hurt her, she would seek revenge from them one by one in the future. She would take back what belonged to her, be it money or justice.
Her head laid on the fluffy pillows. She looked at the ceiling with a smile as her eyes filled with tears. Her hands gripped the blanket underneath her. It was wrinkled beneath her grip.
An Xin, Xu Yi, no matter who she was, she would live life to the fullest for them.
--
Blood!
There was blood on the road and also blood on the clothes. It was as if the whole world was stained with this woman’s blood.
“I want her to live.” Ye Shaotang grabbed the doctor that was about to go into the operating room. There was a hint of anxiousness on his cold face. “No matter what, she has to live.”
After three hours of salvage, the door of the operating room finally opened. The doctor’s clothes were all stained in blood as well.
“I’m sorry, President Ye. We did our best.”
Buzz buzz buzz.
The vibration of his phone woke Ye Shaotang from his nightmare. He frowned and grabbed his phone to switch off the alarm before throwing it to one side.
His body leaned against the leather seat. There were beads of sweat on his forehead, and his fingers were trembling slightly.
Perhaps it was because he saw the dead An Xin with Xu Yi in the morning, he had felt restless after that. He was taking an afternoon nap and dreamt about the day he had sent An Xin to the hospital.
His hidden emotions were all exposed. It was like they were mocking him for being cold and heartless.
The accident happened so suddenly. An Xin had died from the accident. He was very reluctant to accept this fact because she was the woman he truly loved.
He loved her arrogance because a woman like her would not get bullied.
He loved her pettiness. It was just like his personality.
But his love toward her was mixed with hatred.
Initially, he could go against his grandfather’s wish and not marry Xu Yi, but An Xin was the one who sent Xu Yi to his bed, that was why he had married her in the end.
She sent Xu Yi to his bed to anger him, so now, he would torture An Xin’s best friend to anger her.
He was also as petty as her.
But because of that scheming woman, Xu Yi, An Xin was dead. She had played dead to get him to the hospital, which then resulted in An Xin’s death.
Xu Yi!
Ye Shaotang was overcome with rage when he thought about this woman.
His hands clenched into fists and his eyes darkened into a chilling shade. He would not be a man if he did not seek revenge for An Xin.
--
That night, Xu Yi did not sleep well at all. Perhaps it was because she slept on a different bed. She woke up as soon as she fell asleep. It could be she was not in her own body, she kept on dreaming of Xu Yi.
She looked at the familiar yet obscure face in the mirror. Her face was pale, there were dark circles under her eyes. She looked wan and sallow. Her tightly pursed lips made her looked like she was extremely nervous.
She was indeed nervous. She should be the dead one. Why Xu Yi?
She was An Xin. The bar-hopping, hot-headed, An Xin that punched her stepmother at her father’s wedding. She was well-known for all the wrong reasons. The upper class all referred to her as the young mistress from hell.
It was great being Xu Yi. Aside from the Xu Family and Ye Shaotang, everyone who had interacted with her all praised that she was exceptional.
She collected the cold water in her cupped hands and splashed it onto her face, and only stopped when her arms were getting sore.
Her tears mixed with the cold water that she splashed on her face. It was as if the water that was flowing into the drain hole was taking away Xu Yi’s uneasiness.
After cleaning up, she left the room.
The members of the Xu Family were eating breakfast at this hour. Xu Changrong was reading the newspaper. Zhao Yamei and Xu Nuo were chatting. Xu Han did not like to talk, so she sat there alone and ate her breakfast in silence.
When Xu Yi stepped into the dining room, Xu Nuo said in a sarcastic tone, “How dare you parade around in front of me so early in the morning, don’t you know that you’re garbage? I can’t eat with you in front of me.”
Zhao Yamei glared at Xu Yi. “You can just eat all your meals in your room in the future. Don’t come out and cause trouble for other people.”
Xu Changrong was reading the newspaper. He did not lift his head.
Xu Yi walked in front of Xu Nuo. She leaned against the table with one arm as support. “Can’t eat with me around, huh?”
“Yes! I feel so nauseous with you in front of me that I can’t eat!”
Xu Yi lifted the corners of her lips into a smirk. “Then don’t eat.”
She lifted her hand and swept the milk, bread, and other dishes in front of Xu Nuo onto her.
She would double all the humiliation the members of the Xu Family had caused her.
She would double everything, be it kindness or revenge.
“Ah!”
Xu Nuo screamed. She cursed loudly as she stood up to hit Xu Yi, but Xu Yi pressed her shoulder to make her stay down on her seat and she could not move.
“Xu Yi, you b*tch! Are you crazy? Ah!”
Milk was splashed into Xu Nuo’s mouth. Drops of milk flowed down her face and she smelled milky.
Xu Yi chuckled harmlessly. There was a hint of coldness in her gentle eyes. “You said you’re nauseous, so I threw away your food for you. And this glass of milk is breakfast from me, your little sister, to you.”
Zhao Yamei slammed her hand on the table and stood up. She pointed at Xu Yi and scolded, “Xu Yi, you little b*tch! I’ll make you pay for what you did!”
Xu Yi grabbed another glass of milk. When she lifted her hand, Zhao Yamei dodged.
Finally, Xu Changrong could not take this anymore. He slammed the newspaper on the table and roared, “You’ve been creating trouble ever since you came back yesterday. Where do you think this is? You lawless woman. Did your mother teach you to behave like this?”
How dare he mention Xu Yi’s mother.
Xu Yi’s amiable smile was coated with a layer of ice, cold expression. She looked at Xu Changrong. There was a coldness in her slightly narrowed eyes. “I never listened to my mother, because bad things always happen to good people. From today onward, no, from yesterday onward, my credo of life had changed. The ones who wronged me will pay for what they did. So...”
Her threatening gaze landed on Xu Nuo. She warned, “The ones that should control themselves better do so. Don’t make more mistakes when the previous ones are not yet settled.”
Xu Nuo was startled by Xu Yi’s gaze. Her icy stare pierced straight into her heart and she could feel the coldness running down her spine.
Xu Yi had turned crazy!
