Quentin strolled into the room twenty minutes later than he had estimated over the phone.
“Sorry, I’m late.” That was the first thing he said the moment he stepped in.
Madeleine arched her brow in response. She knew her brother well enough that he was always a punctual man. If he said that he would arrive in ten minutes, then he would arrive in ten minutes.
Something urgent must have cropped up for him to be unusually late. By twenty minutes, in fact.
“Uncle Quentin, were you caught in heavy traffic?” Lil Millet piped in out of the blue.
Quentin glanced at Lil Millet. “I got caught up with something else,” he said nonchalantly. “All of you came too?” He swept his gaze across Mason and Lil Beansprout, addressing them.
