George did not know if that sense of satisfaction was because of his pride or something else. He could not look Madeleine in her eyes when he answered her because he was aware of the changes within his heart. Furthermore, he was unsure of what Lolly felt after that incident. George felt a little regretful. He would have kept his mouth shut if he knew that an innocent tease would have such a domino effect. Madeleine noticed how George seemed rather distracted. She guessed that he must be thinking about Lolly. “What are you thinking about?” She waved her hand in front of him. George snapped out of his reverie to see Madeleine looking at him. “Nothing.” He took a few steps back, blushing. “By the way,” he said, changing the subject, “have you heard about Lolly’s story?” Madeleine was taken aback for a moment. She had not seen Lolly for a long time. They hardly had any interactions outside of work and Madeleine was never a nosy person, to begin with. Thus, she knew very little about L
