Chapter 7
Analise thought about it and agreed. Her task was to purify the Vexoth venom, and sooner or later, she would have to reveal her abilities.
Once the Vexoth venom within Stormclaw Alliance was purified, she would undoubtedly seek opportunities to help other alliances as well.
But now, with this trending topic, as soon as she showcased her abilities, everyone would naturally come to her instead of her having to seek them out.
Since she had eaten not long ago, Analise only had a small portion for dinner. Finlay and Scott noticed this and had their own thoughts.
After Analise returned to her room to rest, the two of them huddled together to discuss her diet.
"I've heard that pure human females don't really like nutrient packs. They prefer the kind of food humans ate before the Vexoths invaded.
"Food existed 500 years ago—things like carrots, potatoes, celery, pork, beef… These ingredients are available, but I don't know how to cook them. The top floor of the library should have books with recipes for these ingredients. I have access to the top floor, so I'll copy the recipes and bring them back."
Without Analise around, Scott's expression was noticeably more serious. Even though he found Finlay irritating, taking care of Analise wasn't something he could do alone—especially since he couldn't cook at all. He was a complete disaster in the kitchen.
"You know I'm no good at cooking, so this will have to be on you, Finlay." Scott pressed his lips together.
"I was just about to tell you the same thing. It seemed like Ms. Chamber didn't really enjoy the food just now, so I want to learn how to cook something humans like." Finlay nodded in agreement.
"Your villa has a huge backyard, right? Most of the ingredients we buy take several days to arrive from Nouris. Why not grow fresh ones ourselves?
"I was thinking of hiring a male from Nouris who knows how to farm and bringing back some seeds. If we grow vegetables and fruits in your backyard, Ms. Chamber will probably love it."
Finlay and Scott had grown up together, so even though Scott was now the commander, their personal conversations remained as casual as ever. Unlike others, Finlay wasn't afraid of him.
"Where do you get all these ideas? Why doesn't your brain work this fast when we're fighting the Vexoths?" Scott raised an eyebrow at him.
"I asked a good buddy of mine—he's really popular with his mate. He knows all about them, including pure human females!" Finlay scratched his head and grinned.
"Alright. Tomorrow, you stay home and take care of Ms. Chamber. I'll take care of this." Scott got up and headed upstairs.
…
The next morning, sunlight was already streaming through the sheer curtains onto the floor when Analise woke up.
She stretched lazily, then opened the window, taking a deep breath of the fresh air infused with floral scents. The crisp morning air instantly lifted her spirits.
When she went downstairs, she found that only Finlay was home. On the dining table, there were neatly packed food boxes containing the same dishes she had tasted yesterday—probably something Finlay had gone out early to buy.
"Ms. Chamber, you're up! Come have breakfast." Finlay beamed as he opened the food boxes, setting the dishes on the table and gesturing for Analise to join him.
"Ms. Chamber, the items you ordered have been delivered. Would you like me to bring them to your room?"
A robot, about three feet tall, approached while carrying a stack of boxes in its mechanical arms. Its fingers were hooked around several exquisite-looking bags, which contained the new clothes Analise had ordered online before going to bed. The boxes likely held shoes.
"Yes, thank you." Analise nodded and reached out to pat the robot's head.
The little bot had decorative animal ears on top, resembling the ones on Scott's head.
"Scott isn't home?" Analise asked casually as she sat down.
"Nope. He went to the library—and also to buy seeds and hire someone," Finlay, never one to keep secrets, blurted it out immediately.
"We figured you probably don't like nutrient packs or the food therians eat, so we wanted to buy fresh ingredients and cook for you. But since the ingredients from Nouris take several days to arrive, and you're a pure human, we thought you'd prefer fresher vegetables and fruits.
"Scott has a huge backyard, so we decided to grow them ourselves. It'll be fresher and more convenient. What do you think, Ms. Chamber?" Finlay asked earnestly, grinning.
"That sounds great. It's a really good idea." Analise nodded in approval. She truly wasn't used to the food here—it always tasted a little off to her.
Seeing her agree, Finlay was thrilled. He thought to himself that Scott really knew his stuff. Even when it came to pure human females, he was spot on.
"Finlay, are you busy today?" Analise asked after finishing her meal.
"Not at all! I'm staying home to take care of you today," Finlay responded immediately.
"Then, let's go find a berserk male and film a video of me calming him down. We can show it to the other alliances—I want to go viral again."
Analise's eyes curved into a playful smile. After speaking, she registered an account on Cosmoseek, keeping the name simple and straightforward—F-grade Pure Human.
"Can you teach me how to start a live stream? A live broadcast is more immediate and impactful than a recorded video." Analise fiddled with the app as she sat down next to Finlay.
"Are we really doing this today? Don't you need to rest a bit?" Finlay was a little surprised.
"Yes. Today." She nodded.
After setting up her account, she sent a message to Scott, asking him to verify her account as a StarV user. Then, she posted her first update.
"Hello, everyone! I'm Analise, a F-grade pure human female. I saw some of you are doubting me, so I'll be livestreaming today at 10:00 am to calm a berserk male. Looking forward to your views!"
"You're really going live?" Finlay heard the notification tone from his interface and immediately opened it, only to see Analise's post.
"Yes! You should stream, too—one from a first-person perspective and another from a third-person view. That way, no one can claim we faked it. I don't like being misunderstood, so I'm going to prove myself."
Analise went upstairs to change into one of her newly purchased outfits. She casually tied up her hair, leaving a few loose strands curled around her ears. Even in an unfamiliar place, she still wanted to look her best.
She paired a lightweight off-shoulder sweater with fitted wide-leg pants, accentuating her slender and graceful figure. With her faint, enigmatic smile, she looked like an aloof, elegant beauty.
At least, that was how she saw herself. To Finlay, however, she was just an adorable female who loved to dress up.
"Ms. Chamber…" Finlay's ears turned red involuntarily, and his tail swayed slightly.
"Let's go." Analise walked past him.
Finlay felt as if a gentle breeze carrying her sweet scent had brushed past him.
"Okay!" He quickly followed and opened the car door for Analise to take the passenger seat before getting into the driver's seat himself.
"We're heading to the containment facility, right?" Finlay confirmed as he started the car.
"Aren't we going to the hospital?" Analise asked.
"The males in the hospital have either been successfully calmed or are in recovery. The ones who lost control and couldn't be calmed are kept in the containment facility." Finlay shook his head with a sigh.
"The containment facility?"
