My hurried steps took me towards the burial place of my parents and family members. With a heavy heart, I stepped inside the pack cemetery and made my way to the graves of my parents, closer family relatives and pack members.
The wind howled all around me and stray brown leaves whirled in it, announcing the onset of autumn. I stood there, watching the stone epitaphs with the names of my parents and others.
They rested underneath the soil, never to rise again and the thought gnawed at my soul. I fell to my knees near my father's grave and placed my hand on the stone slab. It was cold as I rested my head against it and softly cried. My body shook from small tremors that wove their way through me because of the grief I had experienced.
“I am so sorry, Dad; I haven't been able to avenge your death until now. The people who wronged you are still roaming freely.” My hands traced his name, ‘John Carol’ engraved on the gravestone.
