Why did my father say that like Draco and I didn’t come from the same woman? Why did he say that with so much disgust and contempt? I stare at him now and it’s like he’s talking about some random whore that he just picked up off the street, instead of the woman he made his mate and married.
That makes me angrier than anything else he ever said.
"My mother," I repeat, all my fears melting away because of the rage rising inside me. "You mean your wife? Your mate? The one who sacrificed herself to protect you?"
The history of my mother, Tamara, has always been hushed. It's not a good thing to bring up at home. Even on her birthdays or the day of her death... nothing. We're just forced to go on with our days because my father hates it when we mention her, much less try to do something to celebrate her life. Back then, Draco would fight him about it.
