Chapter 40 : Come clean

THEO. I want it bad. And I don't think there's shame in admitting that. I would be lying if I said I never thought of Maxine this way. In fact, it's one of the things I've been trying to push down. I wanted us to be platonic. I wanted her as a friend. But every now and then I would look at her and think about holding her hand, touching her face, and leaning down to capture her lips. That exact same thing is happening right now. My heart is in my throat and every single cell in my body is buzzing with need. I feel like I'm going to die if I don't get to find out what her lips taste like.... "Hey, I said lights off!" The loud shout from somewhere outside the hallway shocks us both. I'm not proud to say that I flinched but I did. Maxine also jumps in her spot, her eyes flying open. Bang, bang, bang. The guard slams the end of his baton against the door, and that propels me into an autopilot state. I jump to my feet and turn off the last light I left on earlier, cursing myself for
