Rage and disbelief fill up my heart in a single second, making me feel like I’m about to combust. Thoughts of what can happen with that plan flood my brain, and I can’t help but think of what can happen to Livia.
But it’s not just her. It’s going to be people like her. Maybe younger, maybe older. People who had good lives going on before they got taken away by this disease.
“Why would anyone do that?” I whisper. “That’s horrible. That’s evil.”
Theo shrugs. “For now, it’s just a theory and we don’t need to take it too personally. This just means that we have to try harder and watch out for more things like this.”
“Which can also mean that we need someone we know well to be in power,” I whisper.
“Jonathan.”
I look up at him. “Or you, Theo.”
