Alec’s point of view.
I tiptoed into the penthouse as silently as possible, not wanting to wake up Alana. Killian and I had left Denver, carrying the burden of our friend's secret. Despite the overwhelming urge to jump around and celebrate finally finding my friend, I had to keep my elation in check. I couldn't risk blowing Ryan's cover, no matter how thrilled I was to see her alive and well, and that her boyfriend, Meyers, seemed to be a decent guy. The only nagging worry on my mind was the danger of her job. The way Griggs had described it was downright unsettling. However, I trusted Ryan. She had clearly been in this line of work for a few years and seemed to be thriving, and Griggs appeared to take good care of her agents.
