It had been two long weeks since we found Ryan, two weeks since our return from New York. And it had been exactly two weeks since Alana had grown increasingly distant. It was more than her usual withdrawal, and it had started to concern me. What I had initially thought would be a one-day issue had now stretched into a full two weeks. Every time I tried to broach the subject, she found a way to evade the conversation. I hated to admit it, but I was getting frustrated. I missed my wife, and she was avoiding me as if I were a contagious disease. She had buried herself deep in her work, to the point that even her mother, Nina, had taken notice. Nina had expressed her worry to me, asking if something was wrong with Alana.
