Chapter 436
Clark and Judy locked eyes. Tension swept through Clark when he saw the roses in her hands.
As the elevator doors began to close, Clark swiftly pressed a button to open the doors again and asked in a chilly tone, "Aren't you coming in?"
Judy tightened her grip on the flowers as she stepped into the elevator, grappling with a whirlwind of emotions. "Thank you."
The elevator started its descent.
From behind her, Clark's voice cut through the silence. "Who sent you the flowers?"
"A friend."
"Would a mere friend send such a huge bunch of roses?"
Judy frowned but stayed quiet.
Interpreting her silence as guilt, Clark grew even more resentful and pushed on with his questioning. "Who sent them? Dominic? Or that foreigner from last time?"
Judy couldn't suppress her emotions any longer. She turned and replied sharply, "Who are you to question me? Why does it matter to you who sent them?"
