Chapter 322
Judy sprinkled the powder that Natalie had given her onto the number pads of the safe. She then shone her mini flashlight on it, making sure that the powder was equally distributed on every button. Then, she closed the wardrobe.
By evening, it began to rain and the sky was dark. Clark got home to see Judy sitting in the living room.
"Why are you here?"
Judy looked up from the magazine and said, "You don't remember? I sent Mabel home."
Clark said, "I meant why are you still here?"
Sending Mabel home wouldn't have taken long, but it was getting late.
Judy said, "I helped you out, can't you host me for dinner?"
"Can't you have dinner at home? Why are you having dinner at my place?"
Clark continued in annoyance, "Don't think you can control me just because Mabel likes you. Our past together will stay in the past. I never look back."
"You're overthinking," Judy said. She glanced upstairs. "Mabel has a slight fever. I stayed because I was worried."
