Chapter 282
Judy waited in the hospital for a week, but Clark never showed up.
"Ma'am, the discharge procedures are all done. Let's go," Renee said, coming over with a bag to assist Judy.
Judy waved her hand. "I can walk by myself."
…
Back at the Southridge villa, two bodyguards were still stationed outside, rotating shifts like they were guarding a prisoner.
Renee closed the door and tried to console her. "Madam, don't mind them. Mr. Reid is worried about your safety, especially after what happened here before, but—"
Before she could finish her sentence, Renee realized she had said too much. "I'm sorry, Madam, I brought up your sad past."
Judy's child wouldn't have been lost if those people hadn't broken in that time.
Judy's expression darkened. She forced a smile. "It's okay. Has Clark returned from his business trip yet?"
"I'll make a call to ask. Ma'am, you rest for a while," Renee said, leaving with her phone.
Judy sat on the couch and picked up the newspaper from the coffee table.
