Chapter 49 Childish Quarrels
The entire study fell silent, and a solemn atmosphere hung in the air.
Benedict furrowed his brow ever so slightly, a touch of coldness flashing through his icy eyes as he declared. "I'm married now. She's my wife."
He didn't answer the question, but Maisie seemed to have guessed the answer already. She had learned before returning that their union was a matter of obligation on Archibald's part, a debt to be repaid. There was no affection between them.
