83. Surprise in the wilderness

They pull themselves out of the water and again find a big flat rock to rest on before they go further down the gorge to the umpteenth pool. Yesterday they investigated the gorge in the hope to find the people of their dreams. In the dream they had together, they were both a soldier by the name of Donovan. He and another soldier, Jonathan, taking turns, carried a man with a severely broken foot, and with them was a man in civilian clothing they called ‘captain’. The captain and the injured man were less clear in their dreams, but they remember Jonathan distinctly. After they had swum through the pool, dodged the cannibals, and reached the other side relieved, they climbed out and half-naked sat on a warm rock and had a passionate time together. Eventually, they came to their senses in each other’s arms and had to face the hard reality of their desperate situation.
