104. The battle

Jack gestures to the rest to follow him. He sprints and rushes forward while shooting continuously with his two pistols. He aims at the hidden monsters behind the trees and bushes waiting for them just before the slope down. The bushes shiver and jump into life with harrowing yells and growling sounds. Jack continues shooting and suddenly it is dead quiet. Jack and his followers rush past the monsters. They are now on a steep drop and must focus and watch their steps to remain upright. Suddenly a burst of bone-chilling noises come from behind. Lesley, being the last in the row, quickly peeps backward. The monsters rush out of the bushes and storm like maniacs after them. Jack has succeeded in fighting a path open past the cut-off point of the ambush just in front of the steep decline but now an unholy mass is chasing them. Desperately Lesley yells: "Fuck! Run faster!
