“I think he is different,” Rae said after Lyra had gotten back into bed. Lyra frowned into the dark, wondering if they were thinking about the same person. How exactly was he different? “If by different you mean that he is worse than Devon, then, yes.” Rae was silent for a minute. Finally, she said, “I don’t think he is as bad as Devon.” “Because he hasn’t forced me to watch him with another female yet?” Lyra said bitterly. “I’m sure that day will come soon.” Or maybe he would force her to do something way worse.
