Chapter 6: For A Busy Evening Ahead

Mia avoided the tourist elevator to the guest rooms, instead taking the elevator in the atrium directly to the top-floor restaurant. After a whole afternoon of hustle, the sky was already adorned with crimson sunset. She immediately spotted the central booth surrounded by a rose fence. In her past life, they also dined here under candlelight, stargazing and moon-watching... Mia shook her head, dispelling the non-existent nostalgia in her mind, and strode towards the cage-like booth with a sneer. "Sorry to keep you waiting!" Hearing Mia's voice, Finn, who had been looking down at his phone, immediately looked up. Wearing a gentleman's mask of a smile, he quickly stood up to pull out the chair beside him. "Please, have a seat!" It was a four-seater table, with two seats on each side. Mia glared at his hands lingering on the back of the chair and decisively chose to sit in the seat opposite him. Finn smiled awkwardly and sat down in the seat he had prepared, which was directly opposite Mia. Shameless! Mia could only grumble in her heart, not wanting to stand up and change seats, she lowered her head to look at the menu presented by the waiter. A handsome waiter in uniform enthusiastically recommended their special for the day, a "Lovers' Eternal Bond" couple's set meal. "Let's have this set meal!" Finn decided first. Mia glanced at him and added: "Two, please!" The waiter explained quickly, "Our set meal is for two. One is enough for both..." "His appetite is huge, one set meal isn't enough for him!" Mia pointed at the tall and burly Finn across from her, seriously explaining to the waiter. "I..." Finn was about to defend himself when Mia covered his mouth with her hand. "Darling, you must keep your belly full for the busy evening ahead!" Her tone was teasingly ambiguous. The waiter immediately showed an "I understand" expression, took their order with a mischievous smile, and left. Finn, with a complex expression, watched Mia, who was making funny faces at him, successfully distracting him. Mia certainly didn't want to share a couple's meal with this scoundrel. In her past life, she had experienced this "Eternal Lovers' Meal." The drink was served in a large cup with two straws connected. It didn't matter if it was a real couple sharing, but Mia had no desire to share anything with the scoundrel Finn, hence ordering another couple's set meal. The steak and desserts here were too good to pass up. Finn held Mia's hand as she was about to retract it, looking at her deeply, about to speak, when suddenly a plate dropped from mid-air. "Excuse me, please make way!" The waiter was bringing their drinks, ready to set them on the table. Mia quickly retracted her hand and wiped it with a nearby wet wipe. Now, two 1000ml large cups effectively blocked their view of each other. Mia finally relaxed, pulling the straw closer and sipping behind the large cup. Finn's words were interrupted, and he impatiently pushed the cups aside. He leaned forward, grabbing Mia's hand again, about to speak, when another plate dropped from above. "Sorry, excuse me, the appetizer is here!" The waiter apologized with an embarrassed smile. Mia, in Finn's blind spot, gave a thumbs up to the waiter. Interrupted again, Finn's mood was completely disrupted; he rubbed his hair in frustration and took out a pack of cigarettes. Just as he was about to light up, Mia began coughing incessantly. "Sorry... my throat's uncomfortable, I can't stand the smell of smoke..." she said, looking pitifully at him through her large glasses hanging on her nose. Finn clicked his tongue and walked to the edge of the rooftop to smoke. Mia happily savored the caviar on her plate, internally cheering at Finn's frustration. She saw Finn smoke a cigarette, take a call, and his expression grew serious. She felt even happier seeing him upset. Finn finished his call and headed straight for the elevator. After a while, Margeret heard panting and looked up to see Finn, who had somehow procured a small dish of ice cream. His long-sleeved shirt was rolled up to his elbows, revealing his solid forearms, with sweat beads on his forehead and his shirt's top button undone, showing his flushed neck – it seemed like he had run all the way here. Mia's gaze fell on the pink box of ice cream he was holding, feeling an inexplicable emotion surge within her. She had a special fondness and preference for strawberry-flavored ice cream, never expecting to see it in Finn's hands at this moment. With a fork and knife in her hand, cutting steak, she looked at him quizzically. "Good, it hasn't melted. Hurry up and eat!" he said, like a child seeking praise, eagerly pushing the ice cream towards Mia. Mia, as if possessed, took a scoop of ice cream from his spoon and tasted it. The familiar sour-sweet flavor, accompanied by a hint of coolness, spread on her tongue, causing her to slightly squint her eyes and unintentionally tighten her grip on the spoon. "Is it good? I knew you'd like it. After all these years, your tastes haven't changed. You're such a devoted and loyal girl!" Finn said, looking at her with deep affection, his puppy-dog eyes sparkling. Mia set down the spoon, composed herself, and replied with restrained laughter, "Let's have the dessert after the main course!" "Ah, can it wait? It'll melt!" "No problem, it's still delicious even if it melts!" she said, her eyes shimmering with moisture. Finn suddenly moved closer, leaning against the table and gazing down at her, seizing the moment, "I've always understood your feelings... I know how you feel about me." Mia continued to cut her steak, unaffected, but the grating sound of the knife against the fork betrayed her feigned calm. Finn's lips curled into a pleasing arc as he leaned in and whispered, "You know, I feel the same about you." Clang! Mia's fork dropped to the floor, making a series of clear, ringing sounds. "I came here today to..." Finn began, but Mia abruptly interrupted him. "You should eat too, it won't taste good when it's cold!" "Yeah!" Finn looked at the neatly plated medium-rare steak in front of him, his face full of helplessness, "How can I finish all this?" He immediately cut a piece of meat and tenderly offered it to her. "Today is Valentine's Day, Mia. Do you think the god of love will bless us?"
