Chapter 5 I Think You Have the Answer

Charlotte didn't notice Jason's expression. She kept filling her and Silas's glasses. She intended to get him drunk so that he would be too powerless to do anything to her. To her surprise, Silas could drink a lot. After he took four bottles of whisky, he still looked sober, while she got quite tipsy. Charlotte gritted her teeth and was about to fill their glasses once again when she was stopped. She looked up and found that it was Jason who held her hand with gloomy eyes. It got Charlotte flustered. She had been his personal secretary for so long, so she knew well what his look meant. Was he angry? Why was he angry? Charlotte felt at a loss when someone held her other hand. Silas held her hand as he slowly caressed it and then grabbed her wrist. "We've had enough for the night. Aren't you gonna take me upstairs for a rest, Ms. Seinfield?" Charlotte froze. She knew what he was up to and was about to turn him down. However, she had a lot weighing on her mind as she kept wondering why Jason was angry, so she didn't speak. Bang! Suddenly, there was a loud noise. Jason got up and left without the slightest hesitation. Charlotte watched as he left the private room when she regained her senses. She knew that she was at a dead end when she saw Silas's burning gaze at her. When they reached upstairs of the hotel, Silas led Charlotte out of the elevator while holding her. As he pushed open the door to the suit, he pressed her against the wall and then leaned over to kiss her lips. Charlotte failed to break free from him, so she could only try her best to turn her head sideways before he kissed her on the neck passionately. "Hold-hold on!" Charlotte tried to push Silas away. Her voice was trembling, but she managed to say in a determined tone, "I'm here just to walk you to your room, Mr. Hoyce." "Is that so?" Silas's interest was piqued. Without letting go of her, he asked slowly, "Didn't Mr. Langley offer you to me?" Charlotte's face turned ashen since what Silas said had got to her. However, she shook her head and said determinedly, "I'm just his secretary, and he doesn't own me. If you insist on doing this, I'll scream for help right here, Mr. Hoyce." Charlotte was flustered. She seemed determined, but she was merely bluffing. If Silas took the hard way, she wouldn't be able to do anything about it. A short while later, Silas chuckled and unexpectedly, let go of her. "Although you do have my attention, Ms. Seinfield, I would never do it without getting the lady's consent." He tugged at his tie with a kind of devilish charm in his grayish-green eyes. "You'll come to me of your own accord one day, Ms. Seinfield." Charlotte heaved a sigh of relief. She tidied her messy collar and straightened her back. "I can help contact the girls that provide special service here, Mr. Hoyce, if that's what you need…" "Thanks, but I'll pass." Silas said, "Not every girl can get my attention." He fixed his gaze on Charlotte again and continued with a faint smile, "It seems that Jason doesn't take you seriously with the way he's treating you, Ms. Seinfield, so why don't you be with me instead? Feel free to come to me at any time." Charlotte pursed her lips and said softly, "I don't think that will ever happen." Even if Jason decided to leave her, she would be too exhausted to be with another man. Charlotte walked out of the room. She asked the hotel staff to deliver some anti-alcoholic drugs to Silas before she left the hotel. It was already dark. When Charlotte walked out of the entrance, she stopped abruptly. A Maybach that she found familiar was parked by the roadside. The window was rolled down when Jason's utterly gloomy face was revealed. He glanced at Charlotte and merely said, "Come over." When Charlotte got closer, she noticed the scattered cigarette butts on the ground. Not daring to go any closer, she stood still and said in a low voice, "What can I do for you, Mr. Langley?" She seemed to be humbly lowering herself, which Jason only found incredibly displeasing. He didn't know why he came back to wait for her after he left. He had given her the chance to ask for his help when they were in the private room, but she didn't take it. Right then, the car door was suddenly pushed open, which caught Charlotte off guard. She was dragged by her wrist and pulled into the car. Jason asked her with a gloomy look, "Did Silas touch you?" Tears welled up in Charlotte's eyes. She didn't answer but asked in a hoarse voice, "I think you have the answer, Mr. Langley." Jason's face darkened when he heard that. Charlotte then continued, "Rest assured, Mr. Langley. I believe I've pleased Mr. Hoyce well, which won't have anything to do with the companies' cooperation." She spoke in a business-like tone, which brought more fury to Jason, who had been agitated. He suddenly dragged Charlotte's hair, forcing her to raise her head when he saw the ambiguous yet obvious hickey on her fair neck. Jason grabbed Charlotte's chin hard and said in a furious tone, "How did he touch you?" Charlotte was held in the middle of the backseat. He was pressing her so hard that her back was aching. She held back the urge to scream but laughed instead. "Well, you should ask Mr. Hoyce about that, Mr. Langley. After all, you were the one who let him have me, weren't you? So I suppose it's my job to make him happy." Her voice was slightly hoarse. She had been feeling depressed, but after she spoke her mind, she became relaxed a lot. If it weren't for the fact that Silas acted like a gentleman and let go of her, she wouldn't have been unscathed by then. Charlotte believed that she got lucky to leave. Jason looked more agitated and ripped open Charlotte's shirt. When he was about to continue undressing her, she stopped him. "Our deal is over, Mr. Langley." There was nothing but gloom in Charlotte's eyes. "Since I've given you my answer, I shall excuse myself now." Since Charlotte was pregnant, she wasn't supposed to drink. She had tried to avoid it, but she still took two glasses, so she felt powerless and quite dazed at the moment. She would have no way to struggle if Jason made her have sex with him. To Charlotte's surprise, Jason let go of her. His face remained darkened. Without saying a word, he started the car right away. Charlotte had intended to take a cab back, but she almost threw up on the spot. She hurriedly covered her mouth, feeling terribly nauseated. Jason saw her uncomfortable through the rearview mirror. Even after quite a while, she didn't seem to be feeling any better, so he said, "I'll take you to the hospital." "No. No, thanks!" Charlotte got alarmed and refused hurriedly. She was worried if Jason took her to the hospital, he would find out that she was pregnant. Realizing that she sounded quite anxious, Charlotte held in her discomfort and added, "I'm quite drunk, so I'll just take some anti-alcoholic drugs. I still need to go to work tomorrow." Jason frowned a bit. He didn't insist on taking her to the hospital since she was persistent. He sent her to her apartment. Seeing that Jason didn't intend to go to her place, Charlotte secretly heaved a sigh of relief. After she said goodbye to him, she went home and took some pills. She felt better soon. Charlotte was awakened when her phone rang early in the next morning. It was her coworker from the secretary department calling her. Just as Charlotte picked up the phone, her coworker's anxious voice rang out from the receiver. "Hello? Thank God you're finally picking up, Charlotte! You didn't reply to any of the messages I've sent you! Mr. Langley is quite mad today. Come to the company now and help out!"
