Chapter 90: The fall of Selene
Emilia’s POV
I was able to breathe for the first time in what seemed like an eternity.
However, we were not secure. Not quite yet.
Nimue, who had already unlocked the other cells, said, "We must leave."
Cameron drew back, his gaze keen. "The others?"
I told him, "We're getting them out, too."
Aleesha and Jeremy moved swiftly, supporting the weaker abominations as they stood up. For the first time, despite their hideous appearances, I saw hope in their eyes.
There was more to this than a prison break.
A revolution took place.
Silent as ghosts, we hurried down the tunnels. It seemed like every second went on forever.
Cameron grabbed my hand as we got closer to the exit, his fingers firm and warm.
I gave a squeeze in return.
Then, as we were entering the night, there was an alarm.
I said, "Run!" And we did.
It was supposed to be an uneventful night.
I expected to gloat over the shattered Alpha when I walked inside the dungeons, but instead I found silence and empty cells.
