CHAPTER 8:MAYBE I NEVER WOULD
EMILIA'S POV
It was one of those nights when sleep refused to come. I lay awake on my bed, staring at the ceiling in the dim light of my room, memories flooding in my head like a flood. No matter how much I tried to push them away, they always found their way back.
The flashbacks were sharp and vivid, like a movie playing on repeat, and I hated it. I hated that I couldn’t forget, couldn’t move on. Every time I closed my eyes, I was back in that car, back to the moment when my life had changed forever.
I was seven years old, sitting in the backseat of my parents’ old car. We are on our way to a peaceful treaty of a neighbor pack we have been at war with before now.
It was one of those cloudy afternoons when the world felt gloomy and rain threatened to fall but still didn't . My mom was driving, her favorite Beyonce song humming softly in the background. My dad was in the passenger seat, flipping through a stack of papers, probably something for work or something he has been working
