Chapter 74: Into the pit

Cameron’s POV There was a dreadful silence. I felt the weight of a dozen eyes on me as I stood motionless and breathed slowly. Then came the growling. The area was filled with low, guttural sounds that rumbled like a storm about to come. The great room was hardly lit by the candles, but now I could see them—figures moving in the shadows, eyes blazing with anger and hunger. Abominations. Crossbreeds of werewolves, altered beyond recognition. Some possessed extended limbs and unusual claws, while others had thick, scaled skin. Their bodies were infused with the power of other beings, such as demons, vampires, and entities I couldn't even begin to identify, and their forms were twisted. They all desired my death. One of them stepped forward, a massive creature with leathery wings folded across his back. His mouth twisted, exposing teeth too long for a typical werewolf. "New meat," he squealed. Before realizing that he was only partially changed, I had no idea how he was still ab
