Chapter 9: The Reaper Lays Siege

Jackson was completely stunned. "Do you even know what you're saying?!" He had intended to threaten Joseph, but the realization that his son was at their mercy made him quickly change his tone, becoming more submissive. "Tell me, what do you want? I can meet any demands you have. Just let my son go and spare his life." But Joseph seemed utterly indifferent to this offer. He sneered. "Me? I never intended to let your son go. The only reason we had him call you was for our own amusement." This statement left Jackson flabbergasted. Joseph clearly didn't regard Jackson with any respect at all. In Los Angeles, anyone who dared to disrespect Jackson had disappeared long ago. Yet here was someone blatantly disregarding him, practically inviting death. Still, the reality was undeniable. Joseph wasn’t intimidated by Jackson's threats. "All I want is for your son to die. Mr. Jackson, wouldn't it be fascinating for you to witness that?" "What did you say?" Jackson's eyes widened in disbelief. He had never encountered someone so audacious. What kind of person was this Joseph? Jackson gritted his teeth and asked, "Do you really think I can't rescue my son?" "That's not the question you should be asking. You should be asking how I plan to kill your son." "What?" Jackson was taken aback, realizing he had never been this humiliated in Los Angeles. No matter what he said, Joseph only had one goal: to kill his son. His temper flaring, Jackson yelled, "Stop pretending! Do you really think you're someone important? You..." Joseph chuckled, "So you're threatening me now? Getting desperate?" Even in his anger, Jackson could see that Joseph remained calm and composed, infuriating him further. "Just you wait, I'll kill you!" Joseph shrugged. "Fine, I'll give you the address. If you don't show up within twelve hours, your son dies." With that, he hung up the phone. "Mr. Joseph, what are your plans now?" Samael asked. Joseph replied calmly, "Like father, like son. Jackson's deeds are far worse than Tom's. I’ve been looking for an excuse to eliminate them. Tom's open defiance just sealed their fate." He glanced coldly at Tom in the cage. "If Jackson wants to save his son, he better be ready to die. And since Jackson will be coming soon, I plan to take them both out at once." Killing the son first, then the father—or both together. It was a difficult choice. Joseph smiled slightly. "Samael, have the Hell warriors prepare to take over Los Angeles' underworld. When Jackson tries to call for help, we’ll cut off all his escape routes!" "I want to see how Jackson plans to turn this rescue into anything but a nightmare. This is the wrath of the Reaper!" Hearing Joseph's plan, Tom was terrified, realizing that Joseph didn’t just disregard their family—he intended to bring the entire city to its knees. "I hadn’t planned on a massacre in Los Angeles, but it seems some people need a harsh lesson." Meanwhile, Jackson felt like he was in a frozen hell. "Honey..." A beautiful woman with a curvaceous figure, Jackson's mistress, clung to him as he stood pale and shocked. Jackson's eyes were vacant. He asked quietly, "Did you hear what Joseph said?" "Uh?" The mistress was confused. "Joseph wants to kill my son." She had never experienced such a situation before and trembled with fear. "Kill him?" The word "kill" made her face turn white. "Why? Why would Joseph do this?" She screamed, "What did your son do wrong?" Jackson didn't explain but stood up slowly. "I need to talk to Joseph." Jackson, still a lustful man, tried to comfort his mistress despite the situation. "Don't worry. This is my responsibility. I should have known my son would get into trouble. Let me think." "Let me think about what to do." "We need my brother's help. We can't escalate this, but how do we talk to him..." Hearing this, Jackson suddenly remembered. "I can blame everything on my brother! If I tell him that Joseph wants to challenge him, not me, it will solve everything!" Jackson wasn't the head of the family. The true mafia boss was his brother, Johnson, who usually stayed in the shadows but was known for his ruthlessness. "My son has always been troublesome, but my brother knows that. If he steps in, everything will be resolved!" Jackson didn't doubt Joseph's capabilities but felt that his son had crossed paths with someone dangerous. If Johnson intervened, their international operations wouldn't be hindered by this incident. Realizing this, Jackson felt anxious. He knew this was serious trouble. At the same time, he felt things shouldn't have escalated this way. Tom had assured him he was under Johnson’s protection, so no one would come after him!
