Chapter 7 Irene's Biological Parents

"You!" Helen's face turned red with anger. She was about to shout "Fuck," but Joanna discreetly reminded her, prompting her to turn away, her eyes red and hand covering her mouth. Everyone knew about it back then. Kashi divorced his first wife after spotting Helen, a car model, at an auto show. His original wife, coming from a wealthy family, wouldn't accept this and divorced him, costing Kashi dearly before he and Helen could be together. Irene's words had shattered the polite facade of this supposedly high-class family. Joanna said, "Sister, I accept your apology. You must have accidentally thrown the card at me." Kashi coldly replied, "Want to sever ties with me? Fine. I'll have the butler list all the expenses you've incurred. Pay it back within a week." Helen glared at Irene with hatred. Kashi thought imposing a tight deadline would put Irene in a tough spot, but she coldly nodded her agreement. "Sister, a week is quite short. Dad, maybe give her more time." "No need. Your sister is too proud to accept our money. She might even think we're insulting her," Helen mocked. Joanna comforted Helen, "Mom, don't get angry. It's not worth it for an outsider." "Oh, so you're Helen's biological daughter," Irene laughed. "No wonder you're draped in luxury with no taste." Helen almost jumped up in rage. Joanna calmly held Helen back, "Sister, I apologize for my mom's inappropriate words, but your words were too harsh. You're not our biological child, yet my parents raised you to adulthood. If you want to cut ties, don't follow my parents anymore. It will distress my mom." The surrounding people nodded in agreement. Joanna appeared dignified, educated, and kind-hearted, while Irene looked like she was back for money, with an empty bank card. Facing the disapproving looks, Irene smiled faintly. Joanna clung to Helen's arm, avoiding Irene's gaze, feeling unsettled by how much Irene had changed. "Joanna is right," Decker nodded approvingly. "Some children from poor families feel inferior when they see the big city's splendor. Sometimes, not helping is a virtue." Irene suddenly laughed and asked, "Mr. Decker, I've heard you're a high-ranking FBI official, and your students joined the FBI this year. You must be very capable." Decker smiled modestly, "Thank you for your compliment." "Then, Mr. All-Knowing FBI, do you know where your student is? Haven't you been out of touch for a while?" Decker's face changed abruptly, and he hurriedly walked out. "Miss, how do you know that?" Irene replied with a sweet smile, "I saw it, but I'm just a weak girl. I can't help him." Decker struck his cane forcefully, "Thank you, Miss Irene." Though he said thank you, his tone clearly meant, "I'll remember you." Irene couldn't care less about an old man holding a grudge. She watched him leave, smiling happily. Joanna and other businessmen quickly followed. "Wait, we'll help you find him!" Everyone looked at Irene sympathetically: poor girl, she offended an FBI official. Kashi, his face green with anger, said to Irene, "From today, we'll pretend we never adopted you!" Then he turned to leave, but their luxury car had taken Decker to find his student, so they had to call another driver. Irene turned and left indifferently, riding her bike for about three hundred meters before hearing a commotion behind her. Looking back, she saw a group of people waving their arms and shouting, "Robbery!" Although the robbers were masked, Irene instantly recognized the leader as Emil. In Irene's slightly surprised gaze, Emil skillfully wielded his gun, kicked Helen to the ground, rudely snatched her bag, and ripped off her earrings and jewelry. He even had his crew beat Kashi. When the police sirens blared, Emil and his gang retreated, jumping onto a truck with covered license plates, flipping off a nearby police car. Irene burst out laughing. Emil had only robbed the Kashi family members; his intention to avenge her was glaringly obvious. Irene parked her bike in a secluded alley. Sure enough, soon after, she heard a familiar voice. "Irene." Gasping for breath, Emil appeared, his muscular, sweaty upper body exposed. Her gaze turned sharp and focused, like a predator hunting, making Emil blush and hurriedly put on a tattered shirt. "Emil, well done. Why were you beaten up so badly yesterday?" "Dispute over splitting the loot," Emil said, blushing. How cute. Irene smiled, respecting the pride of the young. "Irene, someone from North District is looking for you. They've been asking around South District. Should I...?" Emil awkwardly tried to change the subject. Irene thought for a moment, "No need. It's probably my biological parents." She had heard from the Kashi family that they were a decent family, both parents university professors, living in the quiet, affluent North District, though not as wealthy as the Kashi family. Emil's eyes widened in surprise. Biological parents? He recalled a group with a tall, handsome man, an imposing elder, and several bodyguards and assistants, but no middle-aged people. Maybe he was mistaken? Emil scratched his head, "Irene, those people were quite rich. We need to divide the loot. I'll give you half of my share." Irene chuckled, "No need, you keep it." She gently patted Emil's hair, finding it soft and fluffy, pleasing to the touch. Outside the South District. "Have you found Irene?" In the luxury car, a deep, luxurious voice asked, barely concealing excitement.
