Chapter 6 Sarah's POV

I woke up early, Sam was still asleep. I stayed in his arms, feeling the warmth of his body. I wasn't in a hurry to get up, enjoying this time alone with Sam. "Hey sweetheart?? I looked up to see Sam waking up, smiling. I reached for his mouth and kissed him. "Hey honey, did you sleep well??? I asked him. "I always sleep well with you by my side.?? We kissed for a few minutes and then got up. I had to prepare myself to go speak with his dad soon. When we got downstairs, his mother had already served breakfast. We got to the table. Everyone was already sitting and only a few empty chairs were left. I ended up sitting next to Marissa and Keven. When I sat down, she looked at me and said with irony. "Well, I guess the marketing of the new game is going so great you don't need to be working on it.?? I was boiling inside. How could she say that in front of everyone? She knew about everything that had happened to me in the last few days. It was none of her business and I wasn't to lose composure in front of everyone. "It's not like you're working hard right now either,?? I answered her trying to keep a cool face. Then I added, "Zach and Sam are here too, as well as Keven so I guess the development is going great as well.?? This time I struck something. I could see her boiling with rage as her cheeks turned red. She took a deep breath and then suddenly stopped as she seemed to smell something. She looked at me, at the mark on my neck, and then at Sam and asked him, "How could you??? I didn't understand why she was so angry right now. Sam looked at her and told her very calmly, "I told you Marissa; Sarah is my mate.?? He looked at her with authority. "This is bullshit!?? She said as she stormed out of the room. There was this awkward silence. Keven excused himself from the table and went after his mate. I was still feeling uneasy about everything that just happened. Sam's father, Mark, broke the silence and said, "I will deal with her myself later?? Now we can all enjoy our meal.?? With that, he kissed his wife on the cheek and started eating. Everyone started eating and talking as if nothing had happened. "I love you baby,?? Sam whispered in my ear. This made all of what just happened disappear. "I love you Sam.?? I answered before digging into my plate. After breakfast, Sam's father wanted to talk with me, so I followed him to his study. As I entered the room, Mark made a sign to his son meaning that he needed to wait outside of the room. I would have to go alone. I looked at Sam and he nodded. "It's going to be fine.?? He pushed through my mind. I entered the room and sat on a chair as Sam's dad sat on the other side of the desk. He talked first. "Sarah, I wanted some time to talk with you a little. Being an Alpha sometime means that I have lots of work to do. I thought it would be great to get to know my future daughter more.?? Mark had a sincere smile on his face. "First, I wanted to assure you that we are taking the attack against you very seriously. Our pack will protect you as you are part of our family.?? These words were comforting. "Thank you very much sir. I am happy to be part of your family.?? I answered with a smile. "Please Sarah, you can call me Mark.?? It was a great honor to have the right to call the Alpha by his name. "Sam told me you have been having strange dreams for a long time??? "Yes, for as long as I remember, I've been having those dreams.?? Mark seemed to ponder. "There is a shrine dedicated to the moon goddess in the forest to the north. If you go there, you should find the answers that you are looking for. When you get there, you will need to stay true to yourself. Only you can go, Sam will have to wait for you outside.?? The thought of me going alone was scaring me, but I think I can do this. "Okay, I will do this.?? Mark smiled at my answer. "I noticed that Suzan seems to like you quite a lot. That's great, she doesn't open to people easily.?? I was taken aback at his remark since Sue was so happy to meet me when we got here and ever since, she's been wanting to spend time with me. I answered to him, "Sue seems very nice! I've never had a little sister, but I guess that I have one now.?? He laughed a little. He reminded me of his son when he did. Other than for the eye color, Sam and his dad looked alike. "I can see what my son sees in you. Sam is right, you will make a great Luna when the time comes.?? I blushed shyly at his comment. Coming from the Alpha, it was quite a compliment! "Thanks,?? I answered with my best smile. Mark smiled to before adding, "You should get going, the shrine is a few hours away. Good luck Sarah.?? And with that I left his study. When I opened the door, Sam was there waiting for me. He had a smirk on his face. We walked a little further. I looked at him. "What's so funny??? He had a teasing look on his face. "I could hear about everything in your mind you know.?? "Hey! You can't read my mind ??all the time' you know. Sometimes it's private.?? Sam laughed, a true and sincere laugh that made it impossible to me to be mad at him. "Aww sorry babe, I couldn't help myself.?? He put his arm around my shoulder and pulled me into a hug. "I missed you,?? he said before kissing me. "Hey lovers get a room!?? Said a teasing voice. We turned around to see Suzan standing behind us. "Hey Sue! It's nice to see you,?? I told her. "Sarah, would you like to spend some time with me today? We could have tea and talk. What do you say??? It sounded great, except for the fact that we had to go to the shrine today, so I told her, "Well; today we have a place we need to go.?? She looked disappointed, I added swiftly, "But, tomorrow, we could spend sometime together. Would that be okay with you??? Her smile reappeared. "Yes! That's perfect! I'll prepare stuff for a girl time tomorrow.?? "Hey! What about me??? asked Sam. Suzan giggled, "Sorry Big Brother, girls only, no boys allowed.?? I laughed too. "That's not fair!?? Sam answered. "Then I'll see you tomorrow Sue,?? I added. "Yes, see you tomorrow!?? she said as she went away. "Well, seems like my sister likes you more than she likes me.?? Sam said a little grumpy. His grumpy face was funny to look at and I had to refrain myself from laughing. "Aww don't worry honey.?? I told him, "Your sister will always love you. She just wants to spend some time with her new big sister.?? This brightened his mood as he said with a grin on his face. "You're right! You're part of the family now.?? He said with a wink. I smiled at him. "You're stuck with me now and forever.?? I said with a wink. "How lucky I am.?? He answered. We then went to our room to prepare our things to go to the shrine. A few minutes after, we were in the car. This time it was only Sam and I. Zach was staying to lead the investigation on the prophecy. We had a few hours' drive to do before we would get near the shrine. Sam's mom had made us lunches so we would have something to eat on our way. We spent our time singing to the songs on the radio and talking together. In what seemed like the blink of an eye, we arrived at a forest of old trees. Sam parked the car in a dirt parking lot near the side of the road. The forest was mainly made up of firs and pines, mixed with some deciduous trees. All those conifers were hiding the light of the sun which made the forest quite dark. Luckily, some rays were still filtering through the deciduous trees. Moss was growing on the tree trunks. This gave the forest an eerie look, kind of like the forest was the home of a magical creature. We came out of the car, Sam looked at me and said, "Quite impressive, isn't it??? "Yeah really!?? I answered in awe. Sam asked me, "Are you scared babe??? I wasn't really sure what to answer. Was I scared? No, scared was not the right word. I was impressed by the height of those trees and by the vibe the forest was giving off. "No, I'm not scared. I think mostly I'm excited to see what this forest reserves for us.?? Sam laughed at my answer, "Then let's go find out!?? With that he took my hand in his, fingers intertwined, and we started walking in the forest. We walked for about an hour. We didn't really know which way to go, and there was no path. We just walked, thrusting that our instincts would get us where we needed to go. And sure enough, we knew we arrived at the right place when we saw it. We arrived in front of two stone pillars surmounted by a stone arch. Moss was growing all over the stones. Three bells hung from the arch, the wind making them move slightly, letting their bell be heard. Past the entrance, a dirt path was emerging, surrounded by small crumbling stone pillars. This was surely majestic in another time and still emanated a kind of grandiose air despite its state. We walked this path and noticed the forest was silent, as if it held this place in respect. After some time, we came to stone stairs that led to an ancient stone temple. The place was still standing against time. Its stone eaten by moss and crumbled by rain, but despite everything imposed his grandeur to the forest. "This is it,?? I told Sam through his mind. "Yeah, for sure this is the moon goddess shrine,?? I heard him answer through my mind. We started to walk up the stairs but then I remembered Sam's dad telling me that I had to go alone. I turned to Sam and told him, "My love, I'm sorry, but I think I need to do this alone.?? Sam looked disappointed. "Are you sure about this? I would prefer to stay with you ?? you know just in case something happened???? I would feel safer if he were with me?? I wasn't really sure I wanted to go alone but deep down I knew I had to. I put on my best smile to reassure him and told him, "Yes, I can do this, don't worry?? And, if something were to happen, I'll call you through your mind, okay??? Sam hugged me tight, took my hand and kissed the top of it. "Promise me you'll come back. I'll stay here and wait for you forever if you don't, so please promise you'll come back.?? I kissed his sweet lips and answered, "I promise I'll come back.?? I squeezed his hand and ventured on in the temple alone. The temple was silent, sun beams were coming through some holes. I had this eerie feeling of not being alone. I was walking down the halls when I came to a large central room. This room was in better shape than the rest of the temple. On the walls were carvings of the forest and the moon. At the center of the room was an altar engraved with the drawing of a beautiful woman. She had long hair and was smiling. I went towards the altar but was stopped by a swirling air current. I fell on my knees. Suddenly, images came through my mind. I was on top of a hill, floating into the air. Below, I could see everyone that I loved; my friends, my family, the pack, and Sam. They were surrounded by darkness; it was eating them alive. I could feel their suffering, hear their screams and tears began rolling down my cheeks. A spirit appeared on the hill next to me. He offered me a dagger and said, "Save yourself ?? or save the one you love. What will you do??? I thought for a second and then realized what the spirit meant. Dying scared me so much, but I couldn't watch the ones I love suffer; I couldn't watch Sam be eaten alive. I knew what I had to do. I took the dagger, my hands trembling, and stuck it in my heart. But instead of feeling pain, I woke up in the temple, my hands on the altar, unarmed. I was shocked, but also quite happy to be alive. My body was trembling. A light began shining on the altar. I heard a woman's voice, the same voice that I hear in my dreams. "My daughter, you have come.?? Her daughter? So, it was true? How can this be? "Are you Selene? The moon goddess??? The voice answered, "Yes child, you surely have a lot of questions, but we do not have time. Know that you are my child, and when the time comes, I will aid you. Always be true to your heart and all will be good.?? After that, I felt a warm feeling enveloping me, making all the sadness and fear from what I saw earlier disappear. "Soon my child,?? said the voice one last time before the light on the altar disappeared. I smiled as I basked in this feeling for a few seconds. That's when I heard through my mind a panicked Sam saying, "Babe! Are you alright? Answer me please!?? I gathered my thoughts and answered him "I'm all right Sam.?? I immediately heard "Oh god! Why didn't you answer me??? "Well, I didn't hear you,?? I answered him, which was true! Then I added, "Let me get out of here, I'll explain everything to you.?? I made my way out of the temple rather quickly. Sam ran to me as I exited the temple and hugged me so tightly, I thought he would never let me go. "I told you I would come back.?? I said teasingly. "That's not funny. You've been in there for about two hours and I tried to get to your mind to talk to you, but I couldn't. I was blocked. I thought something was very wrong.?? He looked like he was really scared so I told him gently, "I was met with this kind of challenge where I had to choose to save everyone I loved?? It felt so real! And you were there, and you were dying so I had to save you! Then I woke up, with my hands on the altar in this big room dedicated to the moon goddess. And that's when she talked to me, Sam. Selene, she talked to me, she said that I'm her child! When the time comes, she will come to my aid.?? I stopped talking, Sam was standing with wide eyes, his mouth opened. He was slowly taking in everything I just said. "Oh my god! So, it is true, you are the moon goddess's daughter!?? he said with amazement in his voice, and then continued, "So ?? you saved me in this challenge?? I guess that it means you love me, hey??? He asked teasingly. I didn't tell him I had to kill myself in this challenge to save him, he wouldn't like that anyway. "Of course, I love you! I love you with all of my heart.?? He put his arm around my waist and kissed me with his tongue while he ran his hands through my hair. We parted and I noticed the sun was going down fast. "The sun is already setting; we should go back to the car.?? I said but Sam shook his head. "We don't have time, and we'll get lost if we walk through the dark. But I know there's a cabin nearby, we should try to find it instead.?? We walked for a few minutes, down past the entrance to the temple. Then, in the distance, we saw a clearing. In this clearing was a small wooden cabin, all made of logs. We made our way to the cabin. Luckily, the door was unlocked. There was no one inside and it looked like no one had lived there for weeks, but it was in overall good shape. "I think it's probably a cabin for the hunters, when it's hunting season,?? said Sam. It made sense, you hunt during the day, and then at nightfall you find the cabin and rest. We lit the oil lamps as this place had no electricity. We hadn't eaten anything for supper, and I was getting hungry. We searched for food, but could only find canned food, vegetables. There was a wood-fired oven, plenty of wood, and all the cauldrons we needed. All that was missing was some meat. "I guess we'll be eating canned vegetables.?? I said to Sam. He frowned and said, "I want meat?? This is a hunting cabin, so I guess I'll go hunting.?? I was perplexed. Sam winked and started to remove his clothes. Then, in the blink of an eye, he became a wolf. "Open the door please,?? he pushed through my mind. "I'll bring back supper.?? I opened the door for him and watched as he left. While Sam was away, I figured that I should start the wood-fired oven. I took a cauldron and put some caned vegetables in it with water. Whatever Sam would hunt, I could make a stew. It was kind of weird to have your boyfriend transform into a wolf to go hunting. But then again, it was handy. I smiled to myself, reminding myself of when he removed his clothes before morphing into a wolf. How handsome he was. I picked up his shirt and bring it to my nose. I could smell his scent and his perfume on it, it smelled so good. I was eager for him to come back. As I was waiting for him to come back, I started to feel like I really missed him. I started to feel like my body temperature was rising. I wasn't sure what was going on but one thing I knew for sure; I needed Sam by my side, I needed to touch him, to feel him. "Sam, are you done yet??? I pushed through his mind. "Almost babe,?? he answered through my mind. "Is everything okay??? "Well?? Yeah, I think so.?? I answered him. I didn't want him to worry. As I waited for him to come back, I began feeling like my body really needed him. I literally began to ache for him. I felt like I had fever. I needed Sam with me. I sat on the couch, taking my knees up to my chest waiting for him to come back, to ease on the pain. Luckily, I didn't have to wait for a long time, as a fully naked Sam came back into the cabin with two dead rabbits in his hands. Just his presence seemed to ease the pain I was feeling. He looked at me worried, and asked, "Are you all right baby??? "I don't know what's wrong?? I'm feeling like I'm on fever or something, like my body is on fire. I really need you to stay with me.?? He smiled, "Oh?? I know what's going on?? The heat is starting, that's what's going on. I can smell it.?? "Smell it??? He smirked, "Yeah you know, me being a wolf, I have an advanced sense of smell. I can smell the pheromones you are giving.?? He winked. Well, that's kind of weird to have him to be able to smell my pheromones but I didn't really care at that point. "If you know what I need, then why don't you do something about it??? Sam laughed a little and then started. "Well, why don't you let me put those two rabbits in the cauldron you prepared first so it cooks??? I wasn't in a mood for eating but I guess I didn't really have a choice since he put on his pants and went to prepare the rabbits. "You'd better be quick then?? I said, a little annoyed. He answered, "Sorry babe, you'll thank me later when we eat.?? I stayed close to him while he prepared the meal. Just being close to him eased the pain I felt. I came from behind him, wrapped my hands around his waist and cuddled with him. The scent of his skin was driving me crazy. I started to kiss his back and slowly licking him, letting the warmth of my mouth linger on his skin. He let out a small moan and turned around smirking. "Humm ?? now that the rabbit is simmering, maybe we can take care of something else.?? That was exactly what I wanted to hear. I had a devilish smile on my face and started to kiss Sam as I pulled him away from the stove and towards the bed. We reached the bed in no time. I really needed him now, I didn't really care about anything else. My whole body was craving him. Sam removed my shirt, and I arched my back as his fingers traced along my body. I could feel his arousal through his pants, and it was turning me on so much, I couldn't wait anymore. "Sam please,?? I pleaded. He laid me on the bed, removing all my remaining clothes, then proceeded to remove his pants. Then he made love to me, but this was different than last time. It was more fiery, more passionate, more animalistic. Like his wolf was making love to me instead of the man. It was different but oh so good! He continued, on and on as I screamed his name until finally, I came and him too. We stayed like that, just kissing and resting. My body wasn't aching anymore. "Feeling better??? he asked with a smirk. "Yes definitely!?? I said with a laugh and then continued, "when will this heat come back??? He thought a little and answered, "It should come back anywhere between twelve and twenty-four hours.?? I kissed him and then said, "Well then you'd better not get too far away from me.?? He smiled, "Don't worry babe, I'm not going anywhere.?? I was enjoying the moment when I smelled something good. I smiled at Sam, "You were right. I am hungry now.?? Sam laughed and winked, "Told you.?? We both got dressed and went to eat the rabbit stew, then got back to the bed and cuddled. I quickly fell asleep, exhausted from this long day.
