Ophelia was sure that Emma and I were hiding something from her.
"Alright. If you say there's nothing, then I'll trust you." When she said this, Emma finally relaxed. But before she could speak further, her phone rang.
"Dr. Thompson, please come quickly. There's an emergency patient."
"Okay. I'm on my way."
After quickly hanging up, Emma turned to Ophelia. "You're both my friends. I don't want anything bad to happen to either of you. Even if there's some misunderstanding, we should talk it out first."
Ophelia took a deep breath, trying to control her emotions. "Fine. Go take care of your patient."
Once Emma left, Ophelia walked into the room. I had heard their entire conversation outside the door, and when she entered, I had no expectations for anything good to come of it.
