Chapter 22
When I grabbed Ophelia's arm, she stopped and turned to me. "Do you want me to let you go?"
I looked up at her and said, "It was my fault for what happened in the past, but if we keep things going like this, neither of us will find peace. Why don't we end this now? We both can have some peace."
She let out a scornful laugh. It wasn't as simple as picking something up and putting it down whenever one felt like it. "Forget it. I don't want peace, and you won't get it either."
I knew it wouldn't be easy for her to let go. The wounds in her heart would leave scars even if healed.
"We can talk about the past some other time, but what can we do to end this job arrangement?"
Ophelia shot me a cold look and scowled. "Not a chance. Do as stated in the contract. Either you show up for work or face me in court."
Then, she shook off my hand and walked away without looking back.
