Chapter 51 Taking Precautions
“My words are inconsequential. I am powerless.”
After saying this, Sharon turned and left.
She did not try to expose James’ intentions. Right now, she did not even want to say another word to him. In so many years, this was the first time she felt her body was light and unshackled—the first time she felt she wanted to live for herself.
“Hey… Sharon…”
James raised his arm weakly behind her, but Sharon’s retreating figure was adamant and determined. He could do nothing but sigh helplessly.
“Ah, karma huh…”
He did feel uncomfortable at heart. How could he not know of the anguish Sharon and her daughter had endured over the years, but… people would die for money the same way birds would die for food. He could only afford to keep one eye open and shut the other.
When James walked into the dining hall, Myles had already been arranged to sit at the head seat of the table. Annie sat on his left-hand side whereas the seat on his right was left empty.
