Chapter 72
Christian’s POV
“He is gone,” Sara says brokenly after we’ve been searching around the area for about two hours.
After our first check, we found nothing and widened our area of search. It was futile. There is no trace of his scent, or of any other werewolf or human.
“I should go,” she says. “Victor will let them go if I turn myself in.”
“No!” I refuse immediately. “I don’t think it’s him. If he came all the way here, he would not leave without you.”
“Do you have any other explanation? He didn’t just up and leave, did he? We would have caught up to him down the path.”
“Let’s wait for the shapeshifter,” I tell her. “He’ll know for sure if Victor was involved in this.”
“We cannot afford to wait. His life could be in danger!”
I shake my head. “You have to stay here, Sara. It’s not safe for you back there, and you cannot let him have you. I won’t allow it.”
