CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND NINE – THE WITCHHUNT IS OVER
Laura collapsed to her knees, gasping for air. The amulet around her neck, once pulsing with dark energy, crumbled to dust. She could no longer hear Morgana's voice in her head.
She looked up to see Morgana staggering back, her face a mask of disbelief and fury. "This isn't over," the sorceress hissed. "I'll make you pay for this betrayal."
With a final, hate-filled glare, Morgana vanished in a swirl of dark smoke. The shadow creatures disappeared with her, leaving the ritual room in eerie silence.
Laura crawled over to where Logan lay, her heart in her throat. "Logan? Logan, please be okay."
His eyes fluttered open, a weak smile crossing his face. "Hey there, troublemaker. Did we win?"
Laura let out a sound that was half-laugh, half-sob. "Yeah, we won. For now, at least."
Ezekiel hobbled over to them, looking utterly exhausted but triumphant. "Well done, both of you. Laura, my dear, how do you feel?"
