CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FIVE – A TOXIC PART
Later that night, Laura tossed and turned in her bed, unable to find rest. Every time she closed her eyes, she saw flashes of the visions from the dagger - cities burning, people suffering. She jolted awake, a thin sheen of sweat covering her body.
A soft knock at her door made her jump. "Laura?" Logan's voice called out. "Are you alright? I sensed your distress."
Laura hesitated before answering. "Come in."
Logan entered, his face etched with worry. He sat on the edge of her bed, maintaining a careful distance. "Another nightmare?"
She nodded, running a hand through her tangled hair. "I can't shake these visions, Logan. It's like they're burned into my mind."
Logan reached out as if to comfort her, then seemed to think better of it. "Laura, I have to ask... what exactly was the price of this bargain?"
Laura looked away, unable to meet his eyes. "Morgana took... a piece of my soul."
