Chapter 309
"What? How did that happen? How could it be so serious?"
From the bathroom, I could faintly hear Abigail's voice. She was on the phone, and her tone was filled with urgency. She sounded like she was ready to drop everything and rush to Joshua's side, desperate to see how bad his injury really was.
From what I gathered, she didn't seem to know yet that I was the one responsible for Joshua's injuries.
But that didn't mean Joshua wouldn't tell her eventually. Knowing him, he'd wait for the right moment to spill everything, likely using it as leverage to drive an even bigger wedge between us.
I found myself hoping Abigail would just hurry up and leave to go see him. The sooner she left, the sooner I could have a moment of peace.
A little while later, Abigail emerged from the bathroom, looking flustered. She'd thrown on fresh clothes, her face still carrying the urgency from her call.
