I didn't understand why Abigail was hiding this from me. She could have just told me she went to see Joshua. If she had nothing to hide, she could have said it outright. Why did she have to lie?
However, since she showed no intention of being honest with me, I didn't press the issue. I gazed at her calmly and asked in an even tone, "Did you already eat? If you have, I won't bother reheating the food. Warming it up again and again just makes it lose its original taste."
I was speaking the truth, but Abigail gently shook her head. She held my hand gently and said, "I'll eat with you."
I put the dishes back into the microwave to reheat them.
As I quietly watched Abigail's back, a strange feeling suddenly surfaced in my heart. I felt like she was drifting further and further away from me.
Everything she created around me felt like a facade. It even felt like the person standing in front of me wasn't the Abigail I once knew.
Then again, I had no idea what exactly had changed.
