Chapter 74 : Prey

A hazy mist filtered through the room as Bailey woke up slowly. Tension crawled across her shoulder when she found the unknown room empty. She slowly got up from the bed, tiptoeing along the room. The room was entirely distinct, possessing no modern touch. There was no light. Bailey touched one of the candles in a corner and frowned. It was still warm, indicating someone had lit them a few hours ago. She couldn't shake off the terrible feeling. A floorboard creaked, and Bailey turned towards the door. Bailey shrieked and stumbled backward as a creature crouched on all fours before her. It had a resemblance to a human. However, some parts of its body were shifted. Dark liquids had covered its hands and fingers. Bloodshot eyes peered through the filthy hair of the creature as it growled and bared its sharp teeth at Bailey. It lunged at Bailey as she ducked just in time, scrambling to her feet and grabbing a nearby chair. Though Bailey could see in the dark, her head felt heavy. B
