"I wanted revenge," I said. "I wanted nothing more than someone to pay. Celine specifically is who I wanted to pay the price. Out of anyone, I know it was her that would have sent them. But I have no proof." I stood up and walked over to him despite the way my heart was thundering in my chest. "I have nothing, no proof."
He shook his head. "You have the video. Unfortunately, the device was ruined, but we have the video. The receiver's address was tracked to an obnoxious-looking building in the middle of District One."
I smiled. "Then that's good," I said. "So instead of going to war, is there something else?" I asked, reaching for his hand. His face slowly returned to normal, but his expression was still hard.
"No," he said. "I want this. It has been this way for a hundred years. You're not going to stop it. I love you, but you will not stop it," he said and gently pushed me towards the door.
