"It's so colorful," I said, noticing the way most of the Central tribe was decorated in colorful strips of light fabric that was very similar to the dress I wore.
"It is," Cressida said as she led me through the winding streets.
"Slow down," I said, nearly jogging behind her.
"Oh, sorry," she said, smiling as she suddenly led me to a large amphitheater. She took me to the front row of the nearly filled benches as Baron climbed the elevated platform. He raised his hands and instantly silenced everyone.
"Not every year, but when we can," he said, smiling. "Tonight, we celebrate those who carry us on their shoulders. We celebrate those who stand behind us and keep us afloat. Tonight, we celebrate the true glue that keeps this great pack together." His eyes met mine for a brief moment, leaving my breath caught in my throat.
"Allow me to officially begin the Festival of Songs," he said, and the entire crowd erupted into cheers and applause.
