Talia I said as I lowered myself into the bathtub, allowing the hot water to sink into every pore of mine. “This is so beautiful,” I said while Baron chuckled behind me, his hands going to work on my scalp. “Tell me about magic,” he said slowly, his voice a soft whisper in my mind and a physical presence as well. “Magic.” I smiled, opening my eyes just a little. “It’s a force of nature. It exists everywhere. It’s sort of like radio waves. If you don’t know anything about it, you’re not going to be able to use it. But the moment you know, you can harness it as much as you want, and it’ll be amazing.” I smiled, a giddy grin spreading across my face. “I didn’t think I could touch it until Lucia told me. Lucia mentioned that she detected a spark deep within me that had been modified.” I chuckled, remembering Aerial’s teases and all the funny things she had fed me—the strange leaves and all the oddities I had eaten. I allowed my eyes to close as Baron’s fingers moved through my wet hair.
