I looked down at my hands and found my fingers vibrating. The shock of using too much magic was already creeping into my bones. "If you do it too much, your mind will break apart," Lucia had said. Yes, I had a headache, but none of that compared to the physical strain of holding my hands out and bending the weaves of the magic in the air. I wasn't born into this life, but whatever this pain was, I hated it. My fingers clenched into fists, nails digging into my palms. “Is it done?” I asked, my voice soft but steady.
