I turned to Avario, who had been standing quietly beside me, his sharp eyes scanning the horizon. He noticed the change in my expression and nodded as if he understood.
"You feel it, don’t you?" Avario asked, his voice a deep rumble.
I nodded, wiping the tears from my face. "It’s like the Earth is alive here—more than anywhere else."
He chuckled softly, a sound that carried years of wisdom. "I’m not an expert," he said with a chuckle, "but I feel it. I feel her." He smiled. "She’s angry with me, obviously. But I’m not going to stop scoring points with you until we reach the capital. This is not yet the end."
